- Hi Durwood,
-
- The mod is super easy. All you need is the appropriate screwdriver and a pair
- of wire cutters.
-
- 1. Unplug the unit from the wall(duh)
-
- 2. Remove the top cover with two screws on the back of the unit. Be careful
- to not yank the speaker leads off.
-
- 3. Turn the scanner so that you are looking at the guts from the back of the
- unit.
-
- 4. Look inside right behind the keypad on the left hand side you will see
- two small resistors. I think they are D501 and D503 but they are the only
- ones in the vicinity.
-
- 5. Cut one leg of each resistor and separate the two parts slightly so they are
- not touching.
-
- 6. put the unit cover back on and plug in(double duh)
-
-
- There, you are in business. One of the resistors(can't remember which one) is
- for the cell mod and one is to slightly speed up the scan rate. Then do a limit
- scan from approx 869mhz to 890mhz and hear the calls. BTW, listening to cell
- calls is prohibited. Have to throw that in you know. This mod is only meant
- for technical experience and not for that voyueristic intent.
-
- This desciption is merely from memory, you may want to consult the scanner
- modification handbook for further details.
